Question on Breeding Delaware Hens to Dark Cornish Rooster

She was out of a WLR cornish cross, so the black was inhibited. Nice heavy hen. They lose most of the heavy cornish bone and do fill out heavier. It seems like even 1/4 or an 1/8th Cornish will keep the body weight up. They don't grow real fast, but at 4.5-5 months they should dress out about 5lbs, and it is darker meat but it has a stronger 'chicken' taste.

I also am planning on crossing Delaware hens with Cornish roosters. Also plan on white rock hens, that's what I read most about as being a good alternative to the fast-growing hybrids. I'm looking for something that will grow fast enough to be cost efficient on feed, and the roosters won't get to fighting age.

I know this an old thread, so I'm hoping you'll have some updated info/photos.

I don't know of any who specialize in breeder quality, I got mine from Welp and my next batch will likely be from McMurray so I can get some females and fresh blood roosters. I'm very pleased with the ones I've gotten from Welp. I'm doing a project with them to breed DC roos with White Rocks and Delawares:

Found this thread wondering how this cross would turn out but I’m using White large Fowl Cornish rooster over Delaware hens.
