I can get useful information within a single clutch of 10. Hybrids reared in mixed group and pures reared in pure. Enough have been done here to indicate the games have better / more effective sperm than the doms. The game sperm dominates after only a couple days while dom semen does not dominate until the game sperm has aged a few days. To get that information knowledge of lay sequence must be related to chicks at hatch which is where pedigree baskets come in.

Good point. She can't quite seem to decide if she wants to be broody or not, so I will definitely be giving her a good week full-time on the nest before I give her any eggs.

Also, this discussion has been really interesting! Another random reproduction question...when a rooster's combs get frostbite, does it really affect his fertilization?

Not in my experience.
My cockbird has been frostbitten in comb, and wattles badly,
and still getting the job done as witnessed on yolks at breakfast prep and many chicks hatched.
