question on duckling feed... brewers yeast....

yeah, I am using the pills. I can't find brewers yeast otherwise, but I am considering looking for it on ebay or online someplace. It would certainly be easier to buy it in bulk that way than to crush all those little pills.

Although it does give me a reason to use my nifty little mortar and pestel

Have you tried the local chain store food supplement section? The body builder type powdered protein supplements are often brewers yeast. I pick the canisters up at yard sales & such for next to nothing 'cause it seems that once they buy it a lot of folks have found that it doesn't taste too good.

I need to look around more. All I've tried is Walmart (we are pretty limited, it's a small town). I did find some over in Somerset (they have a GNC) so when I go over there to Cindy's next I may have to stop in and get some.

I also found some on ebay - 15 pounds for about 25 bucks shipped, though - not sure if that's a good price or not.

I'll look at Walmart to see if they have the body builder stuff and check out the label on it.

Thanks for the tip

Do not use protein powder made for humans! They are formulated for humans not waterfowl! Make sure you get pure brewers yeast AND check
the expiration date if you buy used! By giving your animals vitamins, proteins
and trace minerals in the wrong proportions you can do harm to them!
Also, many have sugars and flavorings! BOO bad for poultry! Plain brewers yeast is very reasonable. Most large markets have it, and you can buy it cheap on line.

where I used to live, we had all sorts of stores to buy that stuff at - even had a holistic health food store - I loved that place, and I know if it's out of date it isn't worth the bottle it's stored in.

I know there must be some place I can get the stuff. I'm going to Somerset tomorrow, Maybe I can stop by GNC and see what they have there.

I say that 15 lbs for 25 shipped is a great price! I buy at least a pound of it at my local co-op a month and put a half a cup on my popcorn... yummy! It costs around 8-9 dollars a pound.... but it's real light fluffy stuff, a pound looks like a lot. I'd be happy to send you a sandwich baggie with some in it if you just wanted to try it... pm me your address...

Good question, and I had thought about it - since I take Niacin myself every day - but I cannot find the ratios and percentages of how much to mix in, and I dont want to OD them.
