Question On Fan Direction For Incubator / Updated With Dry Hatch??????

I would try to get it around 99-100. Mine would swing from 99.6 to 100.6, but I let that go...th more you touch that dial, the worse it seems to get!

Now since I have the fan in and running, how will I have to adjust the thermostat around day 10? (Before the fan I had to turn it down one full turn between day 10 and day 13.)

You shouldn't have to adjust it at all once you have it steady. Once it is set to where you need it, you just leave it at that until they are done hatching. No change from day 1 to day 21!

I am always so nervers and like a hawk when I have to change the dial. Not having to do that anymore is a blessing itself. (I have the temp swinging between 98.2 and 100.6).

I have 1 more question. What about the humidity? I have it swinging between 35% and 50% right now. 50% when I put the water and gradually falling to 35% over a peroid of 3 days and then I add more water. Is this ok or should I try and keep it more steady? Also what do I raise it to now with the fan on day 18 for lockdown?

You know, I didn't add any water at all the whole time this time! The humidity went up and down by itself, from 30-45%. I calibrated my Hygrometer and it was 11% below, so I just kept an eye on it. Obviously if it goes down to 25% you have to add some warm water, but I think anywhere from 30-50% is fine! But then again I prefer a dry hatch. I haven't had any problems but with 1 baby with shrink wrapping. Everyone hatched good, although my numbers weren't high due to the breed of chicken and fragile eggs.
On lockdown, you just add more water or some people will put a wet sponge or washcloth in. I just added more water and got it up around 65% then once the babies start hatching, it stays up by itself from the moisture of the babies. Just keep an eye on it and if it needs to go up, just add some warm water. But for now, I think what you are doing is fine. If you get a minute, go up to the search and type in Dry Hatch, there is some good advice there and there are several people who add the water, let it go down, then add more. The fan won't effect the humidity, it just keeps the air flowing and prevents hot spots and cool spots.

Sounds like you are doing everything perfect, but I would try to get the temp between 99.5 and 100.5 (the 100.6 is fine) if you can...sometimes all it takes it a tap on the dial and it will be just enough. I have an LG and it is so touchy..once I get it set, I do not touch that bad boy...lol!

Good morning and thanks again for your help. I've never heard of a dry hatch but will surely check it out. I hate this wafer thermostat and when possiable defiently want to upgrade to a digital one or maybe get a 1588 bator and keep this 1602 for a hatcher, (maybe by then I will be so angry with it though that I will just have to burn the darn thing LOL). Will update you when I candle and let you know how things are going.
Have a great day, God bless!
Tim
