I am planning on raising chicks the old fashioned way (by mom). This may be a dumb question but here goes....Obviously there will be 2 different feeders in the coop (one with layer feed one with chick starter). Do I have to worry about the adults eating the chick feed up, or will they just eat their own food? When I had my first chicks in the brooder, I had to show them where their food and water was, does the mom chick do that too??? (remember, I am a beginer!!)

Ok, don't feed the layer pellets any more, go to starter only, but provide a dish of oyster shells for the hen to eat if she needs to. The hen will train them all up for you on the feed and water, just make sure you are using a waterer the chicks can't accidentally drown themselves in. Have fun!
