Do I need to keep them large side up fro 24hrs before I incubate? I am buying an incubator soon and want to try my hand at hatching chicks. Thank You

Are you collecting them from your flock or having them shipped? If collecting them from your flock I keep mine small side down. I don’t have experience with shipped eggs.

I am collecting mine from my hens. I can collect enough in a day about 18-20 and was just going to put them right in the incubator. We eat alot of eggs lol

Oh if you collected them today then set them today. No need to wait a day. Do you have an egg turner? Are you part of the Annual Easter Hatchalong??? We are all setting chicken eggs today!

No I am not part of the Easter hatch-along. If I had known lol. I haven't bought my incubator yet I am retired on a fixed income so was gonna buy one at the end of the month. Thank you

:fl Good luck on your hatch.. when I am hatching out of my own flock, I just put them straight in. If I am hatching from shipped ( I've only done this once and my hatch rate was -0- ) I let them settle out big end up for 24 hours. What kind of incubator are you planning on getting? I have a janoel 12, with the size of the eggs my girls lay, I can get 6 in there, it has the auto turner so that I don't have to remember to turn them, I've added a separate hydrometer, to help track temp and humidity, my hatch with the janoel has been anywhere from 60% to 100%.
