Hi everyone,

So I've been setting some eggs every few days since Jan 27th. I set my first 32 eggs in Jan. 27th at about 11pm...does this mean I count the 27th as one day, or start at the 28th?

32 set on Jan. 27th - 11pm (to hatcher on Feb. 13th? Hatch date on Feb. 17th?)
15 set on Feb. 1st - (to hatcher on Feb. 18th? Hatch date on Feb. 21st?)
18 set on Feb. 4th - (to hatcher on Feb. 21st? Hatch date on Feb. 25th?)
18 set on Feb. 5th - (to hatcher on Feb. 22nd? Hatch date on Feb. 26th?)
29 Quail set on Feb. 5th - (to hatcher on Feb. 19th?) Hatch date on Feb. 22nd?)

Can anyone tell me my dates on when to move them to the hatcher, and when to expect them to start hatching? I am really overthinking it, and losing all of my organization.

Oh, and I'm incubating 24 Buff Orpington, Lots of Silkies (lost count!), a couple Polish (Turken?), and Frizzles. And of course the Quail are Texas A&M/Pharoah/Coturnix. I'm going to be adding Showgirls soon, perhaps something else (Marans, ducks?).
I'm not keeping anything but a couple of Silkies, and giving all of the Orpingtons to another lady, so the rest will be sold as they come.

I always count days in 24 hour periods. The next day for me starts at 2:15 each afternoon. Using that method it should be a dimple matter to count when to move the ready ones to the hatcher.

I hope you have a couple of hatchers, or that's going to be a tough schedule to follow. Since you can't really add eggs to the hatcher when a hatch is in progress, plus it should be cleaned in between hatches, it gets really really gross.

Each day 1 starts 24 hours after they went in. Day 21 starts exactly 3 weeks after the day you set them (same day of the week). So for your first batch, they go to the hatcher at 11pm on Feb 14, and day 21 starts at 11pm on the 17th (so you wouldn't really expect chicks until the 18th).

Remember that if you set on a Saturday the 21st day is a Saturday, etc.
I find it easier to go three weeks out from your set date and count backwards from there to day 18.
That's how I keep it straight in my mind.
Good luck
Carolyn

I've got a couple of hatchers, so I'm ok, I'll have to space them accordingly so I'm not opening up the hatcher when they're set.
I might even make one more so that I have a 3rd incase I need it. I actually hadn't thought of that until recently, so I went ahead and made another for that purpose..which is why i'm trying to nail down my dates so I get it all accurate and don't mess anything up when they're in there. Boy that would stink!

Actually, would it make much difference if I put the ones due to go in a day apart in on the same day? That might help a bit.

That would be a bit easier. I mean, I'm very fortunate my husband is an electrician, he can whip me up one in no time...but I need the room for brooders, lol. Even though, making incubators and hatchers is fun! lol.
