Question on Little serama wings

Ok! Thank you again so much! I just want to do everything I can. I know some won’t make it to hatch but I’m hoping I can give them the best conditions to get there. We shall see in the next few weeks! 😬
You’re very welcome! Please keep us updated. Always love seeing teeny tiny Serama chicks! ❤️

Oh my goodness!!!! They both look so good. Adorable! 🥰 Teeny one finally floofed up. My little broody, Nyx, NOW has 3 chicks under her. I added the other 2 this morning after they dried, and she accepted them immediately. There’s 1 more in the incubator that will go in with the new family after it hatches in the next few days. I’ve been fortunate to have my Serama broodies be very accepting of me adding chicks.

The teeny has fluffed some but still doesn’t have much in the middle of its wing when it’s stretched out. LoL. The person I got the eggs from msg’d me and said that it could be a frizzle or sizzle.
That’s so exciting! And that she takes them right in! Are most serama hens good mommas? My Brahmas have never went broody. I’m hoping some of my bantams will when it’s time so they can hatch naturally.

Awesome! I hope to see a sizzle or frizzle chick in your brood! That would be really cute to see. I really can’t speak for all Serama parents, but it’s crazy here with my hens. This year I was getting 4 go broody at once! Then doubles and singles other times. I got a lot of new chicks! That doesn’t include some of my hybrids, Silkies, and Mille Fleur d’Uccles! And, I used my incubator to help them out. So far, all of my hens have been great mamas… even the first-time broodies.

That’s amazing they just know what they’re doing. Momma’s instincts are strong! I wanted to purchase older serama chicks but didn’t want to have them shipped. Where I am (Northern Mi) I couldn’t find any chicks or eggs except far down in southern MI. That’s why I thought I’d try to hatch some.
Do you have any frizzles or sizzles?

No frizzles or sizzles, unfortunately. No Silkies either. I WISH! I save the anxiety of having chicks shipped by hatching my own. I began my Serama flock with eggs. And now, I have dozens! I also raise hybrid Serama/Mille Fleur d’Uccles, Serama/Porcelain d’Anvers, and Serama/Silkies (all of my Serama/Silkie hybrids have hatched out Satin so far. Frustrating). 😖

Dosens?!?! You’re living the dream!!
I absolutely do not understand all the chicken breeding/genetic/colors stuff.
Can serama chicks look exactly alike as chicks then be completely different colors as adults? Or can the same color parents have chicks that are completely different colors?

Yes and yes. Most of mine (for example, primary white) have grown to be all black with just a tiny bit of brown or white. White chipmunk stripe have grown into black, brown, rust, and cream combinations. You’re going to get many surprises, as they feather. I do have a few who seem to breed true… their chicks grow to feather almost exactly like one of their parents every clutch.

That’s so interesting and pretty cool! It’s like a Christmas surprise with every batch! 😂
Do you think it would be possible to PM you if/when I have questions? If not, no worries lol
