Would it a bad idea to hatch out chicks from different colors of Orpingtons? Or is one color batter then the other? Thanks for the information

What is your goal? Are you wanting to have them as backyard layers? For breeding?

You can combine different colors of Orpingtons, but if you hatch any out, they won't be a pure variety (color). If you want them just for eggs, I don't see a problem with have a variety of Orpingtons.

No one color is better than another, but some "lines" are better layers or have better conformation than others. If you want just eggs, order some from a hatchery.

I don't have a goal right now I am in the process of put up pens for the different colors I have. I usually hatch out some eggs in the spring, and sell them for backyard flocks this helps me off set my feed costs.
