Question on Vaccination ... medicated feed for Coccidiosis

I would keep Corid on hand just in case symptoms occur. My new chicks were not vaccinated with cocci and has been fed unmedicated feed. Today, one of the chicks had signs of cocci and luckily we have a Tractor Supply Company nearby. This morning was a bit unnerving because #1 I didn't know if our TSC had Corid in stock and #2 cocci is a quick killer. Luckily they did, it was $23 for the 20% powder and the bag will last for a long time.

Hopefully my chick will survive. She is more responsive this afternoon, eating and drinking by herself.

I hope your chick pulls through. I have a TSC close I will check into getting some of that to keep on hand. Does that also work on pullets and older chickens.

Yes,Corid(amprolium)will treat Coccidiosis in any age of chicken. Dose for Corid 20% powder is 1/2 tsp per gallon of water, dose for Corid 9.6% liquid is 2 tsp per gallon of water. Treat ALL chickens for 5 days,do not give vitamins during treatment(interferes with medication)give vitamins after treatment. Good idea to keep on hand in the event of an overload/outbreak,you will be prepared.
