question on ventilation

Mine has all across the top of the coop open, and chicken wired...and there roosts are about even with it...but there are more roosts in the coops so they can move to the back from cold or rain coming in at a slant...and the doors on the side, is where I get my eggs...those doors are big ...about 1/2 my size, Im 4'11"...I put up chicken wire across the opening so if I open the doors for airing out...they stay in...

Ok So here's my plan, for now! We are still in the process of building one wall. I have my coop sitting up about 2 1/2 feet. It is about 4 x 3. (I only have 5 peeps) I have a second floor shelf for extra space about 1 1/2 ft. Under that I intend to put nest boxes. The little vent is above the coop door. I will put in a second vent / door that can be opened in the summer but closed in the winter for those frigid days. How does that sound?

I think what I got out of my replies is it is very important for good ventilation however, it is also important for winter months to keep them out of direct windy draft.

Once I get a stupid camera that works I will place pics.
