Question Regarding First Eggs

One of my 4 production red girls started laying 7 days ago too and I've gotten 6 eggs (from her) so far. I'm obsessed with them and I stalk them too..... lol.

Hopefully the other 3 will start soon.
Can't wait for my 4 new babies to start laying.... they're only 2 months old. 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Black Australorp and 1 Dominique.

Oh I just watched your video and I guess the egg song made my cockerel crow... it's like almost midnight here!
The coop is pretty close to the house and the AC is facing the coop so the chickens can hear us and we can hear them lol:lau

BW... you never get past that heart crushing moment when you open the nest and there are NO eggs in there

My Sussex laid her first egg today... my mum got it... yes I was mildly heartbroken

I tell my laying girl how beautiful she is and I thank her for the egg every day

... then I tell the others that they better start paying their rent soon

It is so exciting. I just came in from feeding and checking on the chickens. When I got out there the nests were empty. When I was leaving I heard some bawk-bawking so I peeked in my little window to the OB Ward and there was one hen in a nest and her labor coach was on the roost next to her.

Yesterday I was working in the other run and looked up and the main run was empty. I went to the OB window and everyone was in there with the rooster trying to stand on the slanted top to the nesting boxes. Three chickens in nests and all coaches were present! It amazes me how they all go in to cheer them on! And my rooster, he rocks, he crows every time a hen lays an eggs and starts her bawk-bawking after.

I love my chickens!!

Chickaddict: I don't think I could survive the excitement of a blue or green egg!

And Pixie: Whaddaya mean no eggs? I can't even go there. It's almost enough to ruin your day.

Thanks for all the replies. I am recently unemployed. The recent egg production has really
helped to lift my spirits.

I get more disappointed when I don't find any eggs. Mine free range but the majority have started to lay in the coop and we love it when we find them. These birds are still young and they can't seem to decide where they want to lay. Some under the boxes, some in the boxes, and the other day I found where they had been laying outside.
