I have only one chicken 'sort of' squatting right now. But not sure it is true squatting. She just sits back like in a squat but doesn't really spread her wings or 'bow' her head in a submissive way. My youngest son said he has seen her do that. I am wondering if she is truly squatting or just 'sitting'. I hope I made sense. I just don't know what to think. I swear they are just teasing me. My chickens are between 18-21 weeks. The one who is 'squatting' is one of my EE's and she is probably 19 to 20 weeks. My Australorp is 21 weeks and figured she would be the first but so far she isn't squatting. Several of them their combs are growing and are very red. Just want some eggs, darn it. lol :)

My chickens rarely ever exhibit squatting unless a rooster attempts to breed with them. However, I hear it is common with other people, especially those with no roosters. Do you have any roosters?

They should probably start laying in a couple weeks!
