If you would mind making a suggestion, I would like to know if I will get any black or flecks in chicks from a white leghorn x B&W hamburg rooster over a white Leghorn hen. The roosters mother was a white leghorn and his father the B&W hamburg. Any suggestions, anyone tried this mix ?

The objective is I would like some black or fleck or colour mixed into the next generation, so if this rooster isn't going to do it what kind a rooster would ?

Thanks for you genetic/breeding gurus out there :)

I would like to update this post and let you know that yes I did indeed get mostly white chicks with a few spots and smudges on them, over 50% get a black spot on the top of their head (boys or girls).

Here in the US a cross between Australorp and White Leghorn has been common for several decades. Called Austrawhites, they have black flecks on white, not as many or as evenly marked as a Hamburg and they do not breed true. Great layers of large white or tinted eggs.
