Question. your quails do this too?

she is active, eats and drinks water normally. I've seen her sleep like this. he hears any noise and his head suddenly springs up. of my 10 quails it is the only one that does that.

Yes, some will 'tuck' their heads under their wing like this on occasions. Nothing is wrong with your bird.

If you head to a local park you will see ducks and other birds regularly do this, I believe it creates a "dark environment" to help them sleep.. not sure I could pull it off though
