My ducks free roam during the day and I lock them in the coop at night. I usually put them in the coop around 8pm. When I go check on them an hour later they are standing up inside the coop. I feel mean locking them up if they aren't ready to go to sleep but I need to keep them safe from predators. Any advice?

Ducks don't really sleep all night, more like naps, they are fine. If you leave them out all night after a week there won't even be ducks to speak about.

It's big enough to fit 6 hens. I have 3 ducks. They can't walk around in it but they can stand and move a bit
