I know for standard breeds you want a temp. of 99.5 Does this apply for bantam breeds, and breeds that lay a smaller egg? I'am having trouble hatching sumatra eggs, these are standard.Sumatra eggs are smaller than other standard breeds. The embryos develope for a couple weeks, then die.Thank you in advance for your replies.Take care.

Sounds like your temp is too high. I just hatched bantam eggs in the same incubator with regular and jumbo eggs, and everybody hatched right on time. I got 41 chicks out of 42 fertile eggs, which is pretty good!

I'm using the Genesis 1588, which has a digital thermostat. I wasn't getting nearly as good a hatch with the still-air, wafer thermostat incubator I was using before, because the temps were running hot. Like you, I had quite a few chicks die in the shell.
