Question?!?!

I agree. It also depends on the breeds some get males get their combs earlier. I have some 3 week old BOs and the boys combs are bigger than the girls are. I actually have some 3 day olds, week olds, 2 week olds, 3 week olds and month olds. The 3 and 4 week male chicks are definitely getting their combs.

The Wyandottes I've seen have smaller combs to begin with, male and female, than standard RIR or Barred Rocks, which most often have fairly large single combs.... So that could be that you are just seeing the difference in breed...

Definitely.
Compared to the other, single-combed breeds, a young Wyandotte pullet will look combless for quite a while. wyandottes have a rose comb, which is low and flattened--like a lump of flesh. They don't have the toothed, or serrated, comb that the other breeds have.
At 17 weeks, my wyandotte still looks relatively combless.
