We are trying to let my girl hatch some babies to break her bad broody attitude (also I love babies) what will happen if none of the eggs hatch?? We ordered beautiful aracuana (sp) green eggs so we could tell them apart from our brown eggs and she is sitting and covering them all... I read the hatch rate is low with eggs that have been shipped... I just don't know how low...

Hatch rates for shipped eggs are around 50%, but there are lots of factors that influence hatch ability. How old they are, how they were packed, how they were handled... Some people would hatch 1 egg from a doz shipped eggs and some would hatch 10. Have you candled the eggs when you received them to see what the air sacs look like and did you let them settle before setting them?

I tried that with my broody brahma dottie, non of the eggs were viable and I didnt want her to sit for 3 weeks again, so I got her some day old chicks.....waited until it was dark and put them under her wings. Magic!
