I need to be gone for overnight, but 2 full days...my chicks and roosters, have no windows in the coop (cement walls) as long as i leave them adequate food and water, would there be a problem leaving them in the coop while i am gone?? it is suppose to get into the 90's both days but in 50's at night...I don't trust my neighbors to take care of them properly....if not is there some one in pueblo who would mind checking in on them for me while i am gone?? I hate to do that to them but need a vacation...lol

Do you not have a run? I'm thinking an unventilated cement box will get very, very hot during the day. If they have water they may not die of the heat, but they'll be heat stressed at the least and it's not outside the realm of possibility to come home to dead birds. Do you have no friends, co-workers, church members, anyone who could come care for them? Most folks are more than willing to help you if you just ask.

X2 on what donrae said. On days where temperatures exceed 90F, good ventilation is critical for a chicken's well being and concrete especially absorbs a lot of heat. You will likely return home to dead chickens after two full days in there. Please try and find some alternative.

YES I HAVE A RUN BUT NOTHING ON THE TOP TO KEEP OUT PREDATORS....i AM NEW BUT NOT CRUEL!!

I THOUGHT MY NEIGHBORS WERE GOING TO BE GONE FOR THE WEEKEND ALSO. AS IT TURNS OUT THEY WILL OPEN THE DOORS TO THE PENS..THE ROOS FREE RANGE IN THE BACK YARD...AND IN AT DUSK AND THE GIRLS ARE IN A RUN UNTIL I AM SURE THEY WILL NOT FIT THROUGH THE FENCE...IF I COULD NOT FIND ANYONE TO OPEN THE DOORS FOR THEM I WOULD HAVE STAYED HOME MYSELF!!RIGHT NOW THIS IS THE SET UP I HAVE ...SO U SEE THEY GET PLENTY OF LIGHT AND AREA TO MOVE FOR AIR...I ALSO HAVE A SMALL FAN IN WITH THE GIRLS TO HELP MOVE THE AIR FOR THEM DURING THE HEAT OF THE DAY

Never meant to insinuate you were cruel, but we only had the information you gave us to go on. Sorry, not mind readers

I'm glad everything worked out well for your holiday!

I am sorry I probably sounded pretty rude.....had a good time but not so sure my chicks did...the neighbor
didn't do to good of a job...didn't even let them out until 9am or later, and didn't do to good with the hot
weather needs(he was actually afraid of them!!) but we all survived and now will get back to our routine....can't believe how hot colorado has

been this year....the vacation was well. AND NEEDED but will select a better
care-giver next time...
thanks

That's funny your neighbor was afraid of your birds, I had the same issue last summer

. I had to be in the hospital most of last summer and the folks that were sweet enough to come feed for us on and off were apparently terrified of the chickens! I could have seen being afraid of the horses, sure, they're big ol things. But chickens? Never once occurred to me they'd be afraid. Bless their hearts
