Good Morning. I gave my sister a dozen eggs 2 days ago (unwashed and collected 3 days before). She hard-boiled them this morning, and there is something wrong. Only happened to one egg. I'm assuming it's a parasite of some kind, and maybe it was a double yolk?

She also said it was cooked for several minutes too long.

Thank you!

Looks like a meat spot to me. Sometimes bits of tissue from the reproductive tract find their way into the egg as it is being made. The only paradise that I know of that can end up in an egg is a round worm and they look completely different.

Thank you very much! This is only our 3rd year of raising chickens, and I've never seen anything like this.

I think this is my third year too. We get the occasional small meat spot but once I had an egg with a bunch of blood in it. Along with soft shells, no shells and one fairy egg that was about as weird as it got in the egg department. I chalk most of the egg issues up to new layers. Haven’t had a hen long enough to see old hen issues, maybe in a couple more years if I decide to keep a few favorites from the original 2024.
