Questions about an old GQF incubator

I have a very old round Hovabator. I have hatched 5 rounds in it so far.

I find it very easy to use. I just get it up to temps and make sure it is holding fine. Then in goes the eggs. It takes several hours to get back up to speed but I do not mess with it.

It holds temps within a degree during the first 2 weeks. Typically on the 13th-14th day the temps will go up some. I turn it down one complete round and it settled back down to 100.

Works great. I also have a LG and I am on my first hatch. They started hatching yesterday. I had no problems at all. I don't think I ever touched the temp dial the entire time.

Thanks for that...Does yours have a fan in it? Im wondering if my other problem would be that I've never used a still air before...Not used to all this!!

I'll say, I absolutely LOVE my LG's...I havent really had any problems with it...The only time I did, it was my fault (didnt notice it was right next to the house heater)..Other than that, they have served me well.

So 1 complete turn will turn it how much up or down? 1* or so? Maybe that's why I couldnt get it to drop temp at all...I was only turning in quarter turns...It came to me set already - it was at 101 when it got up to temp, but then it kept changing...So I never really had to screw around with it before I used it.

Just realized the swap starts at 10am, not 9...I might not be able to make it to this one Tony!

Are you going to be at the one on the 24th in chichester? That one is a little closer for me, and it starts earlier...

If not, are you going to be heading up this way at all? Maybe I could meet you somewhere if you are to pick up the fan and such?

It is all depending on which way you turn it. With mine you have to turn it a ways to get it to come down or go up much at all.
I can't remember which way you turn it to increase or decrease the temps. It is marked on the bator.

The last week it will shoot up around 102 and I have to turn it 1 complete round to get it back to around 100.

It is much different than the LG. If you turn the LG 1mm it goes way up. That is the only thing I don't like about it. However I do not have a problem with temps going way up or down.

Hi Chubby dog,
Yes,I am going to the Chichester swap on the 24th.I should of read your ad more. These parts are for a sportsmen incubator and will not fit your round incubator.Sorry for the confusion.
In N.H.,Tony.

If you hear of anyone with any fans or anything though, please let me know!!

Just curious, how big is the fan? I might still be interested - Im going to be building a few new, and bigger incubators soon....
