Questions about eggs before locking down.

Hi Sylvia
Hey 5 chicks and 8 pips thats not bad !! shame about the little fella these things happen some are just too weak to hatch !! if any of the others that have pipped have problems dont be afraid to give them a little help somtimes they become too dry and can't rotate in the shell preventing them from breaking free once the hatch is almost complete this is when I tend to go in and give a helping hand however be gentle the menbrane's can bleed a little, remember this is a learning curve !! good luck

Hey sylvia
Forgot to mention the last time I hatched in the hovabator I had about 40 eggs in it only 6 hatched waiting for the hatch to complete the healthy ones pecked there way out of the incubator I could not believe it a hole right through the side needless to say I salvaged what I could the heater and the thermostat and threw the remainder in to the bin !! good luck kev

LOL Smart little things. At least you had extra parts.

I now have 10 chicks from this hatch of 37 eggs but there are still 3 in the shells and some may just be late bloomers. Today is hatch day so they get a few more days in the incubator but I will candle them tonight and compare my notes to a few days ago to see if I can tell if there's more growth in them. Sylvia
