Does anyone have any experience with leghorns as Mothers? I am hoping the hatch will be a success, but what about my leghorn as a Mother? She has the instinct to become broody......being a "factory" breed I'm not sure what her instincts will tell her about being a Mom. I have moved her to a dog crate in our garage. I made her a nice little nest and placed a small run around the crate for her to eat and poo. She has not gotten off the nest since she went in. So early this morning I place the developing eggs under her. I really hope I'm doing the right thing.

It just depends ... about 1 out of every 50 or something Leghorns will go broody, and I'm sure they're great mamma's!
