Alright, first thing's first, we have been thinking about getting a goose to be with the flock of ducks. I know a lot of you have geese, so I figured I would ask q's here. Can you keep just one goose with the flock as a sort of "protector" ? Do they get along with ducks alright? What about brooding them? Can they be raised alone inside with us until they are big enough to go out with the ducks? Is there much of a difference between brooding geese vs. ducklings?

And last Q, do you guys know who is still shipping out ducklings this year? We were hoping to get a good hatch from Izzy's eggs, but I doubt many if any are viable (no obvious movement or sound at 28 days incubation). So now we need some ducklings to break Izzy's brood, and to allow us to add to our flock.
A few feed stores still have ducks, but most are Pekins or Rouens and we would really rather have Saxony ducks or Swedish ducks. Not sure where we could still get a shipment out. Any ideas??

Ooooh I did find someone in KS. that has Cayugas. If she'll meet me halfway I'm gonna grab them this weekend.

I had a goose hatched in October that has grown up with my ducklings and is great with the flock. I also have anther single gosling right now- and its doing great with the ducklings it lives with as well. Lucky for me I had 2 week old ducklings when this gosling appeared- so there isnt a size issue yet- the ducks are still slighty bigger than little gos.

Max the grown goose is a great protector- she keeps everyone in line- and apart from hogging the pool all the time- she is very happy. Glad to hear you have some ducklings sorted so quickly.
