Oh dear... ummmmm... you don't wanna know how many chickens we have! I quit counting at 50.

We only have 8 Adults ducks and 4 ducklings. I will be butchering 3 of those Adult ducks because we have to many males.
And then I was told to butcher the old bantam hens and extra cockerals.

Ok I'm going to ask but has anyone Pinioned a Guinea before? Or should I just clip their flight feathers? I'm leaning towards pinioning since I won't have to mess with clipping 30 Adult Guinea Wings every couple months.

Visual plans to the coop are on my website under Housing. Scroll down to M*A*S*H unit.

It measures 10x10x6 and we put wheels on and move it every few days or every week depending on what it looks like on the ground.
Beats me how many would fit in it. I had planned on 6.

Geez! I wish I was down to 50 chickens! I stopped counting at 700! I do have only about 50 ducks though.
Next year I may have many more keets because I hope to hatch under hens and let them raise them. I have heard that Guineas aren't great mamas. Wonder if pen raised keets with Guineas would be better? This is all new to me. But I sure do love my Guineas! I saw mine fly for the first time the other day. It was awesome!

But they only flew from one pasture to another so that was cool.

Guinea Farm will do it. But That makes the guineas defenseless. Just my opinion here.

They won't be able to free range. Just way to any strays running around because people can't seem to keep them on their own property??

(Thats a whole other story.)
I like having others opinions makes me feel better so I don't feel like I'm talking to myself.

Oh wow! We are downsizeing majorily here. I just want to keep certain breeds that I like.

50 ducks??! I have a hard time keeping up with the ones I have already!
What is really neat is seeing a Adult Swan fly just 2 feet over your head. Sounds like a Helicopter!

I am also of the opinion as well that there is no Single way to have a healthy safe flock. Just as long as we do due diligence in keeping them safe.

I just wanted others opinions about pinioning. I've already lost plenty of birds to strays around here. Those dogs are smart and will scare a chicken to where it will stick its head out through the fenceing.......
We finally put chicken wire across the bottom part since we found out what the strays were doing.

Boy I do know that problem. I had a pack of feral dogs come through and terrorize my goats. Crazy lady that owned the place that adjoins my property, let em run because she thought they kept the illegals out. Thank goodness I have high places for them to get and dog kennel panels that surround the yard.
I would love to run field fence and hotwire all around my property. Then I would feel my critters would be a little safer. Then I could get a Great Pyranese or an Anatolian or Kengal to protect the "flock". then follow up with Mr Shotgun. I finally ran a no sight fence around the base of the Goat enclosure. Dogs couldnt see em Goats couldnt see the dogs. (recycled the plastic wall from an above ground swimming pool Bout sixty feet long and three feet high) Running the field fence is the cheapest way to go but even then I cant afford it. I have eighteen acres with an easement road that crosses through it So the job of surveying is really important before I put in a fence. Sigh.... and if I win the lotto I will add a Barn for the horse and goats a real chicken coop and build a new house.... LOL.
