hello there! i am a 15 year old animal lover and have a question about one of my ladies. this is about gladys, an Easter Egger. We got these ladies beg/mid October of '24 (they were rehomed from a friend), and i am nowhere near a chicken expert but i have learned a lot and still have more to learn. when we first got these ladies, (we have 7 in total) gladys was always the quietest and never wanted a ton of attention. she is definitely one of the shyest of the bunch. when we first got them, they had been at their previous home for about 2.5 yrs ish and so we knew that rehoming them to our house would be a big jump for them. due to the new surroundings and definite stress, a couple of them did get some poopy butts but they're all good now. we did have some issues with pecking order but that worked itself out within a few days of them settling in to their new territory. recently however, i have noticed gladys being very sad-looking and just sitting in the run quietly by herself. she has never been vocal (ever!) but i noticed in the past week her tail has been drooping over her backside and she had a bit of a poopy butt again. i was able to isolate her and spray it with a wound/vent for chickens solution and tried to clean her up a bit. i think it worked a bit but she's still a bit hunched. this was worrying me but i noticed that she is still eating and drinking. when i look outside the window and see them in their run, all the other six chickens have their heads up and are foraging but shes just standing and resting. when i come outside, she instantly perks up and becomes very excited like all the others for mealworms! yesterday, one of our other chickens goldie pecked her a few times on the head and she just took it. is glady's posture and condition due to her place on the pecking ladder or maybe shes sick? Please help!! gladys is the gold one beside the barred rock.
