2) If I am checking out as a guest using a credit card (no PP), why am I being asked for my phone#?

No, it’s not automatically renewing. We don't have plans to implement that.

I think the phone number is in case there’s a question. That said, I have never called anyone in 20 or so years. If you don’t want to enter it, just use all 0’s. It should let you do that.

Awesome. And thank you for the phone# workaround. I've never been asked that before. And I like that "getting around" almost as much as I like my card# being stored on the processor's "cloud" for auto renewal.

You could leave the number blank.

I have been using Paypal since the time eBay bought it back in 2002.

They have two of my credit cards, one of my hubby's, my phone number, three emails, and by now, who knows what else. But never have I gotten a phone call, email, or anything related to Paypal that wasn't Paypal themselves. Never a call that I remember, and a couple of emails per year.
