Questions about raising button/chinese painted/king quail

For the sod... if you'd like to give your buttons some sod, you could grow some in a planting tray in a sunny window or on a balcony. If you were to start one every couple of weeks, you could have replacements ready for them. I would let the root mat get pretty dense before giving it though, so it will last longer.
I bought a chicken mix seed that my chicks love and its 7 to 10 days to grow to boot! I wonder if the mix would be safe for the button quail. It's called chick mix in a yellow bag donyou know by chance?

It's most likely safe, but it would be classed as a treat. Treats shouldn't be more than 10% of their diet.
I was just thinking maybe a pie pan or a pot pie size depending on how many hatch with good soil and a treat for maybe once a week or so and something different! I can't help but feel bad for them eating the same old feed and I've gotten some great tips from the posts which I appreciate so so much! I didn't know about the cooked eggs for them at all!!

First baby out around 5am and another over halfway now and great news 2 more have pipped!! I admit it im sobbing I always do when new life emerges!! Time to turn on the heat lamps and get warming the new pen for when they are good and dry it will be good and warm!!
