Questions about showing chickens

Discussion in 'General breed discussions & FAQ' started by Fay at Frizzled Feathers, Mar 7, 2009.

  1. Hello ,

My DH ask me some questions tonight that i just don't know about so i came here to ask all you experts that show chickens. [IMG]

DH has Black Rosecombs and wants to show them .

    where to go from there?

How do you go about showing your chickens at shows , what steps do you take.

Where can a person find out where all the shows are happening ?

Any info you may have on this subject will be greatly appreciated .

    Thanks ,

If they were game roos you would start by dubbing them at 7 months. Why do they make the birds this?

Old english and modern games are old style. They were used for fighting so they dubbed the combs, waddles and ear lobes so their opponent cannot have something to grab hold of with their beak. This is keeping with the tradition.

first step will be to get a copy of the standard of your breed, then talk to your local clubs for show info.
