Questions about Silkies :)

Hi are silkies good chickens? my dad thinks if we get one then all the other chickens will peck at its head because it has that little poof on its head have you guys ever had that problem? thanks!

They're sweet and really cute. Just beware, they aren't the brightest crayon in the box.

I would not get just one. They like to hang out with other silkies. Only a silkie understands another silkie.

I have three and they are best buds.
Oh and they don't like ramps and high roosts (but can be trained to use a ramp). They don't fly. They can't really see where they are going. Yes, just one silkie might get picked on.

Ha - as many as you can - don't you know about chicken math? You can never have too many! I have five - four hens (two black and two splash) and one (partridge) rooster. And the hens definitely do hang out together. (and I have never, ever seen anybody peck their head or anything else)
