I am wondering if she might be some sort of coastal as in the second photo....she does look a lot like the first photo, too.

I wish I could have caught a cute thng today.... She loves to take a bath....in the sink and loves when we wash her....but her favorite thing is the blow dryer!!!! We put it on low and she follows it and will go to sleep and she lays down on her side and stretches and stretches. She does this in the window too. She loves it everywhere except her bum...there....not so much. In the morning she gets in our faces and cuddles as close as she can and rubs us..... Maybe she has been taking lessons from our Chihuahuas????

Ahhh o my gosh, please take videos of this quail fun

!! Haha!!

I'm sorry but your links didn't work for me - it sent me to a general search of quail images - I tried googling coastal quail and found California quail are called that sometimes?? I couldn't find a picture of a unique coastal quail

These are the photos I was talking about.....she looks a lot like the coastal juvenile.. Is this a different variety?

I think you might have found it. Looks like it is a subspecies with different feathering and is found in different geographical locations. Very interesting.

I'll try to get a photo tomorrow but it looks just like one of our new quails. We bought 5 coturnix quail a while back and all escaped but we had some eggs so incubated them and got 9 chicks from 10 eggs!! 2 of the chicks were very dark and looked quite different from their parents or the rest. One of them disappeared - probably a rat got it in the barn - but the other is fully grown now but much smaller than the rest and with really odd feather colours and general appearance. Looks just like yours! But it definite came from a coturnix!

That sounds great thanks. We have had her for about 2 months....not sure how old she is.
