Questions on quail...

Your cage looks really nice. I like it.

But I have to be careful of spending right now. I'm wondering if there's anything cheaper than hardware cloth?

may i suggest it may be worth while buying a pre-built cage in Australia there are pretty cheap ones at bunnings i would buy one designed for rabbits or chooks possibly even second hand as long as its been thoroughly cleaned of course be aware of mesh sizes
mine is suitable for 5 quail and cost $62 aud although i would like a slightly bigger one
it not the best but will last for 2-3 years so worth it from my point of view

This may be kind of off topic, but @Nabiki mentioned the japanese quail being sent by God to the Israelites, so...why not.
A while ago, I had a chick who was rejected by her mother. She was very cold and unresponsive, the other chick with her had died, but I was determined to revive her. I only had one heat lamp which I had for another chick who had been rejected from the same clutch earlier (my profile pic). I didn't want to leave them unattended but I had to go to church that afternoon. So, I ended up bringing both chicks and keeping them warm during our service (that service usually only had around 10 people anyway and is more informal). Though after our service, some of the other people there decided to discuss the story about God feeding the Israelites quail while I was trying to revive this poor chick!

Not particularly helpful for the thread but I thought it was funny :D

Well, sometimes a lot of coincidences aren't always coincidences. :D Its very possible that was meant to be a subtle signal that you were on the right track in life by going to church.
