So, multiple questions for those who may know...
I have a silkie that I got a month or two ago. I can't tell if it's a pullet or a cockeral, I added a picture but if I need to I can get a better one.
Second of all, there's a (very cuddly) cockerel that hatched today. I put some purebred Sumatra eggs under a broody speckled Sussex I but left some of hers and some other mix breeds with her. He's at least half blue Sumatra, but he's either pure Sumatra or half Sussex (or naked neck or Brahma, but I doubt it). I don't want to disturb the hen to see the eggshell, either, so can anyone tell for sure?
I don't have a picture for the last one, only a vague description, but I wanted to ask... I got some pullets from tractor supply, but all of them died at once (gnats we think- it's been happening a lot in S. Louisiana, I'd watch your chickens if you live there). There was this one pullet I didn't know the breed of, but I couldn't get a good picture before she died. She was black with white feathers on half of her wings, and it looked kind of like gray lacing on her chest. Not real lacing, but it's the best comparison- a sort of gray half circle pattern on her chest. She was 6 or 7 weeks old when she died. It's not a great description of her, but if anyone can guess, or at least give possibilities, it'd be great.
So, last question... I have 4 Narragansett turkey poults, about 3 weeks old. They're all the same age started out the same size, but one has grown way bigger than the other 3. Is it possible that the big one is a male? Can you sex turkeys by size? Or is there another way to sex them?
That's all I've got for now, if anyone can answer I thank you in advance
