mu 20 wk old light Brahma was apparently affected by the sick new comers even though they are separated. She is much more severe though. She was fine yesterday and this morning is gasping and gurgling, with puffy face. I have her about 1 cc of the antibiotic the vet gave the others for their water. I don't know what it is. It doesn't say. She choked on it a little. I feel like she needs re aggressive treatment quickly what should I do.

I also think I should treat the whole flock, but I'm beyond quarantining at this point. I'm so upset about this. People should not sell sick chickens. I have 24 sweet birds in danger now!

Please advise as to how to treat. Thank you.

Sorry about your chicken. Respiratory diseases can make carriers of the whole flock, even in those not showing symptoms. I would only medicate sick birds. You can purchase Tylan 50 injectable at many feed stores, and a few syringes and needles. It can be given orally or as an injection. Dosage is 1 ml for 5 pounds, and increase this for larger chickens. Give it twice a day for 5 days. If your vet will give you more medicine, that would be fine, but sick chickens may not drink enough medicated water. Thank you! I found out the antibiotic from the vet is SMZ. She said I can give .3cc's orally per 1.5 lbs of bird twice a day. Im guessing she weighs 5lbs. I'll have to weigh her. I think I'll try that as long as she's taking it. Do you think the injection Tylan 50 would be better?
