Hi all. Ended up buying some quail eggs from an auction. I now have 17 healthy 3 week old quail. As a new to quail I have a question about their verity. I'm pretty positive the are coturnix because of the way they look and the eggs they came from. I am wondering if they are standard or jumbo. Some of the quail are quite a bit smaller than the others. I know that males are a little smaller than females but as you can see from this picture there's quite a bit a size difference. Some of the eggs were smaller than the others as well.

The big one looks to be a jumbo at that size. Females can be larger but not always, especially when jumbos are mixed into standard sized breeding flocks. If you have a mix of colors (one of the lower blurry chicks look silver to me) then some of them are not likely to be jumbo.

Not an expert, but there seems to be a great difference. Mine are jumbo and usually are a bit smaller or the same size, but only when they are chicks. Never the less, I hope you enjoy your new birds.☺️🐥
