My first pekin duck hatched yesterday, but there was still a bit of yolk that needed to be absorbed, so I just let him sit in half the shell. He is 24 hours old now and still sitting in the shell. As of now most of the yolk has been abosrbed, but the question is what to do about the end that is like his belly button. With horses we dip theirs in iodine to prevent infection. Will he be ok with his still kinda large? He is wiggling around more and I'm afraid he will not be in the half shell much longer. Thanks for any advise in advance!!!!
