Quick question

Do you think maybe put it in a cloth into a cup or something. This thing is bouncing all over the place and the lower part of the egg is still attached......

No not at all, still pretty moist.........
I kind of worry about it tearing out of him the way he is all over the place.
I really am trying to leave this thing alone, but am wondering if better to put him in brooder protected......

He could step on it and kill himself, it's worth a try to restrain it a bit. See if you can get a cloth around him and put him in a cup near the heat source in the brooder. Hopefully the warmth will make him go to sleep while the cord dries.

I put him in a large coffee cup with a wash cloth. He can move easily if needed, but he went straight to sleep.
So.......this thing SHOULD dry up eventually and fall off or am I going to have to do something? This definitely doesn't have the look of a healthy chick.
Thanks for the encouragement and advice, helps ease my mind a bit. I know if its meant to survive it will, but....just hate it when those cute little things don't!

Mine really looked bad at first because she was skinny from not having a yolk sac in her tummy, and especially because the yolk sac burst all over her back! She fluffed out in a couple of days and she's almost 4 weeks old now. The fact that yours is active and alert like mine was is a really good sign, it sounds like it's going to be okay. When mine took a long nap in the cup she climbed out of it when she woke up and ran around eating and drinking like nothing had ever happened. She just looked like crap. LOL

Well that is good news. He is definitely sitting still in the cup.
Finally got a silky hatched out. I forgot the size difference of silkies when they hatch with "regular" birds.
Just found out my boyfriend is bringing home 10 chicks, he didn't ask what age, so may have to get another brooder ready.
Barred rocks and buff orpingtons. I've never had the Buffs, will have to read up. I mostly have barred rocks and silkies now. I still have my white rock roo, poor thing, he's been attacked by a possum 2 different times. Once we literally shot the possum off of him, the other time, the possum tried to escape, this poor rooster has had a rough life!

Figured I'd post an update here so far on the hatch.
The little guy made it through the night and like youngbiddy's chick, he got out of his coffee cup. He is pathetic looking. He drank some water and is trying to navigate his way around the other chicks. He's about the same size as the silkie chicks.
Sadly, sometime during the night one of the silkie chicks managed to get under the screen in the incubator and drowned. I am just sick about it......
Another game bird hatched during the night and it has the same issue as the one I put in the coffee cup......a 3rd one hatched and its normal for the most part. Odd it's with just the one set of eggs and not the others.
