First did u read the hoa agreement stating no hens? Based oh your house / neighborhood. Id say work to get the rules changed. It will cost a lil bit of time n money but you will have an invaluable lesson out of it!

Laws are typically vague I'm sure you could find a way through the contract if you really wanted to.

Alternatively you could go to the doctor and say Doc I want some therapy hens. I'm sure you can find a very nice liberal doctor out in California.

Alternatively your backyard is not big, try working on buying some property and get the ball rolling on your homestead.

I'm working on becoming self-sufficient off my land myself and you need to have a lot of vegetables and fruit to be self-sufficient just for one person.

Or you can just be the crazy bird family that has there poultry live in their house!

In other words, go to a doctor who will make something up to help the OP break the rules of their HOA (which state NO BIRDS) and abuse laws that are set in place for people who truly do need service or companion animals, jeopardizing those people’s rights to own them.

How about the OP and parents realize that if they want chickens, they should go through the proper channels to get the ordinance changed or that an HOA may not be the best option for them?

Thank you for your participation. I think we're done here now :)
