I like to quilt, and would like to make a new winter quilt block swap. I recomend signing up soon, as space is limited. I'm starting now to give us time to get the 12-15 quilters I would prefer to have for the exchange.

We each should make fifteen 12" x 12" blocks that incorporte some poultry (ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, etc) into the block. Fall colors generall this swap.

There has been some requests for this swap.

1. Cotten only - pre washed and dried - no cigarettes or cats in the same room (due to some would-be quilters with major allergy issues) WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

2. Do we want to do all the same blocks with our choice of cloth for this one? If not, thats ok, I'll do it next time.

I am on BYC everyoften, and I will be available to answer questions, and all who send blocks will receive blocks from whomever else takes part. I ask that when you ship your blocks, add a large SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) for easy block shipment. However many blocks we each receive is dependant on how many quilters take part. ALL BLOCKS are sent to me (yes, even yours your keeping) so that I can be sure every pile of blocks sent out contains one from every single sender. Its confusing to keep track of 12 - 15 different piles, and who doesn't need one. I want no mistakes, so make and send them all at once.

DON'T LET PAST EXPERIENCES KEEP YOU FROM TAKING PART, I WILL BE HERE DAILY, AND THIS IS A TRUE QUILT BLOCK EXCHANGE!!! This is number 4, and so far all blocks have arrived to me safely, and arrived to participants safely.

PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU INTEND TO MAKE QUILT BLOCKS AND SEND THEM.........

TO SIGN UP: Please put "SIGN ME UP" OR "YES, I'M IN" or something all by itself in a post on the forum. (Or, put it first, then elaborate) Don't PM me to tell me please, I get too many PMs every day to remember your name and post it. Please post you want to be invovled HERE on THIS THREAD.

Yeah! Happy Quilting!

For those of you that are hesitant on joining, I have been in all of Marty's and they go off without a glitch, and we get back such beautiful blocks.

I'm in for this one too.

I will check back for details. It does not matter to me what kind of blocks as long as I feel I have time to do them since I hand piece my blocks.

I wanted to add: I have severe allergies and it does not matter to me about who does what or animals in the room. If I find the blocks to set off an allergy attack once I receive them I will spray mine with Fefreze and hang them outside on the clothesline to air out. This may not work for others but it does for me.

I never thought about febreze I have really bad allergies too and will keep this in mind. mine are cats, trees, dust, grass, I have outdoor cats and trees and grass in my yard, dust in the house and I play in the dirt every spring, can you say mask and allergy company stock,

Sometimes I get into something and may not know it until I am reaching for my inhaler life is so much fun with all of the unknowns, never a dull moment, so anyway it doesn't matter to me if your cat decides to sleep on my blocks, oh and the real fun starts when I clean out the chicken coop.

littlechicklett do your girls bother your allergies and have you lost your sense of smell yet?

katsdar- I wish I had lost my sense of smell! Mine is hypersensitive maybe due to having sinus surgery. I can't remember from when I was tested how many things I am allergic to but it was ALOT but fortunately the only animals I am allergic to are cows. But yes the coop cleanings are rough not because of the chickens its the dust and dander that get me. I can't go to my inlaws without having an allergy attack. I think its because they have indoor birds. Its every day thing for me.

oh yes forgot about the dander, I thought it was the shavings, but I"m sure that is part of it, now that you mention it I ,was given some cockatiels and had to give them away because of the dander now the cockatoos the big birds don't give off that much so I can touch them at the pet shop, but its crazy I am allergic to everything God put on this earth so I live on allergy pills and just go about my normal life, I was supposed to have allergy shots 3 times a week but I had better things to do with 75 dollars and that is really why I lost my sense of smell, and they won't let you give them to your self anymore, guess doctors figured out they are losing that money, really strong odors I can smell but things like a rose unless it is really strong and I stuff my nose right into it, then we have the other reaction, double edged sword oh we
ll life goes on
