Quilting/sewing for Christmas gifts - it's that time ;)

Well I have two lap quilts done for Christmas so far. Just started quilting another. The first two I cheated on and "tacked" them. This one I am actually quilting. I don't like doing that as it takes me so long to actually "quilt" one. But some tops just say quilt me so thats what I'm doing. I need other ideals for quilted gifts that don't take as long as quilts to do. Any one got any? Thanks. Oh yeah,They have to be simple,I'm fairly new and a do it all by hand, and I'm a guy so familar with a lot of fancy terms!lol

We had a great time. I gave the girls directions on how to make the Bargello and how to cut the strips using a cutter and mat then got out of their way. They just took off with this pattern! I wish I would have taken my camera. We did it in some pretty fabric I actually found at WallyWorld. Bright Pinks, Greens, Yellows, and a couple prints with those colors. It came out really pretty. They are going to pick up a orchid color and do a border for it to frame it and make it pop. This will be their entry in the county fair. They went to state a few years ago and won a Blue Ribbon there too for one they made that had appliqued flipfops. It was too cute.

Once the kids get back to school I'm going to get started on a quilt made from the Wizard of Oz fabric. I got some of the sienna stuff when they first started the series and some from the line that just came out. It will be pretty easy because it's a panel. But I'm going to cut the peices apart and sash them. It's actually for her 40th birthday which is in December. When I get that done I'm probably just going to quilt a couple of tops that I have waiting. Maybe make my mil another runner.
