So tonight a friend from the suburbs I used to live in told me she was going to hatch some chicks with her children. I asked her how the heck she was going to keep chickens in my old town that has the strictest rules of what you can and can't do on your 80 x 100 piece of property! She said she was going to use the Quiver Farm hatching project .
I went to the website, and I can't believe this farm supplies everything to schools , bator, brooder, hatching eggs, and all the supplies. then, after the chicks hatch... they come and collect up the chicks! What an unbelievable effort on behalf of the farm to educate the children about the incubation and life cycle from egg to hatch. There were a lot of questions swirling around my head... and wonder about the cost feasibility for them on sending people to round up the baby chicks, and where do they go? lol.. but at first glance, I commend what looks like in theory a wonderful attempt at providing exposure and learning to school age children.
Has anyone used this farms services... and how did it go? I have to admit... I did chuckle at the part of the manual that instructed how to tell a male from a female... as easy as that!
