Hello.
When I go to reply to a quote or worse, multi-quotes, all I see is computer text format language.
Unable to see the photo or screen shot of the poster. Makes it very difficult to reply and have it placed in the correct spot and not have extra computer language show up once message is sent.
This has happened since going GFM. So far I like the extra benefits, but the problem with only seeing the text on a blank page is discouraging my participation to questions/posts/replys.
I mentioned this earlier right after the membership kicked in,,,,still a big problem.
Can this be fixed? asap? Thanks!

Sorry to hear you're having problems, but I can almost guarantee it isn't related to your GFM. Here are some things to do to possibly resolve your problem:
  1. Clear your internet browser's cache / history of files. It's easy to do and almost as important as taking out the trash at home! See instructions here and here.
  2. Determine if the problem is because of your browser and/or plugins and extensions. Download a free version of either Google Chrome or Firefox and see if the thing that was broken now works.
  3. If you're still having problems, continue to the steps below:

If after following those steps, here are a few questions that will help us find, duplicate, and hopefully resolve the problem you are having. Go through these questions and reply with all the details of your problem:

  • Describe your problem in as much detail as possible!
  • What is the URL of the page that you had problems?
  • Did you receive any error messages? If yes, what were they? (please copy and paste the entire message, screenshots are best)
  • What were the exact steps you took before having the problem? Please be as specific as possible so we can reproduce exactly what you did. Go step by step, provide links, details, clicks, etc.
  • How long has the problem been happening? When did it start? If only one time, what day and time did it happen?
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.)
  • Have you tried disabling all your browser plugins and/or extensions? (Some of these conflict with website features and tools)
  • Have you deleted your internet cache / browser history of files and tried again?
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Have you tried a different browser (we suggest Google Chrome or Firefox)?

Wow, now I have some learning to do. I'm using Bing???
It started the moment the GFM hit....but, I'll start working on the above. Will need to learn about cache??
Thanks so much for the response. I'm no techy, obviously, but interested in solving this problem, love GFM and BYC.
Until I get this fixed, I'm concerned because I'm making errors in replies and having to do over/edits to get it correct.
Thanks again and I'll update you soon. Verna aka Chirp

Hmmm... Bing is a search engine and not a browser.

I'm guessing you are using the browser Internet Explorer version 7?  You really should try Google Chrome or Firefox since IE 7 is a SUPER old and buggy browser.

Yes you are correct, IE7, sorry, didn't know my engine from my browser,
I have deleted browsing history on IE7....now, on your recommendation, I'll try to get on Google Chrome or Firefox, I see where I down loaded the Chrome at some point, now need to figure it out or try Firefox. I think this had happened a time or two in the past but it corrected itself after I closed a few windows, best I can remember.
Super excited about the tips/instructions!!!
Thanks for all your kind help. Chirp

Yikes, switched over to Google Chrome, went to quote this message to see if it would show me the page, rather than just the text stuff....going to keep trying.
I'm going to go ahead and "bookmark" the BYC pages/things that I had pinned to my desktop on IE7, delete the IE7 desktop stuff for BYC Google bookmarks and go back to your instructions and finish those as well.
Hate to be a bother, but thanks for hanging in there with me....Chirp

"You really should try Google Chrome or Firefox since IE 7 is a SUPER old and buggy browser."

I'm using IE 8.0.6001.18702,

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition,
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600

I'm on SLOW dialup, and can't download Chrome in less than about 6 HOURS

(I've tried and it never works)

IE has worked in the past and should work now.

Hello, Nifty and friends... I'm here with an update. :frow

Well, here I go.....I did go ahead and clean browser's etc. on IE. No changes.

I changed completely over to Google Chrome, late night/early morn..... yoo hoo love it so far....but, still the same problem with the reply to quote in forums/threads etc, still getting computer text language....

Then, decided to do a complete system clean with Optimizer Pro, through late in the morning....
No changes, then contacted their tech representative and we went through my computer for several hours to make sure everything is up to par. ????

Frustrating and embarrassing, don't know what to do next???

I am able to send/respond to PM's is real time script with emoticons etc.....

Do I need to try Firefox? Lots of work/time involved though?

Just can't understand why the quote/reply doesn't work now? I can get use to it, but I'm not very effective, and slows me down, heehee, I'm already slow enough on this techy stuff.
Thanks again!

Just touching base again this morning. Still having the same problem...
Nifty, you had mentioned that I could send you a copy of what I see on my screen to help dignose the problem??? Could you explain the procedure? I'm assuming a cut/paste send....but also having no luck at cutting and pasting things either..........Thanks.

When we see unique problems like this that aren't happening across the board with many members, it's really tricky. We need to find a way to duplicate the problem. A step-by-step process of how you run into the problem and a screenshot image is the best thing for our team to try and track down the issue.

Here is a tutorial on screenshots: http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

You may also see if you can try another computer to see if it's a problem with some other software on your machine.
