Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

Okay glad you said at the age mama took them to roost my 3 week olds mama is still taking to their stall. She has introduced them to the main coop and they have been on the roost but not while everyone else is in there. Did anyone try and pick on them Shannon?

So far so good. The first week my hen is like a bull. She will charge anyone who gets in her way haha. But each week after that she lightens up. Sometimes my leghorns try to chase them, but my rooster will step in between. Haven't had any issues so far

Wish I had a broody to integrate the babies, of course our Cornish is broody now and sitting on eggs but she is about 3 weeks late! I need to figure out an integration processes soon. Glad yours didn't bother the littles. I know I wouldn't mess with a mama, I have seen the Cornish in action and she is already fierce without any babies.

Hi all, just doing a fly-by and a share: BYC Member Interview - Yorkshire Coop

Things are NUTS this side. We finally finished moving out yesterday amidst a lot of drama, shouting included and now we have to move MIL… again

We found some vacancies in a nearby retirement village with reasonable rental rates and am going to take her there to have a look and talk to the management tomorrow.

Hope all is well with everyone.

I'll admit this hen spoils me. And she is just a great mama. She was only broody for a week when I brought these chicks home, she allowed me to stick them under her during the middle of the day, and allowed me to move them all the first night to their own private quarters. She took them back to their quarters every day until Saturday and now she just takes them to the coop. She integrates chicks into to the flock flawlessly. I hope she sticks around for along time. If I ever get a hen like her again it will be a miracle :)

@Yorkshire coop 's interview was fabulous! So glad you're doing these member interviews, it's really fun to 'meet' the faces behind the avatars.

Sorry yesterday was so dramatic. Hey, if MIL goes to the retirement village, that would be worth moving her!

I hope today goes better!
