Thank you! It's been -7 in the coop and no issues. I think having the metal pan upside down and a cookie tin heater on it, underneath really helps keep the nipples from freezing. I can and have unplug the cookie tin when temps get up in the 20's and it's been good with just the pipe heater wrapped around the bucket. I have no water heater inside the water. I was afraid of 1) overheating in the water, 2) Aquarium heater's glass breaking and 3) the amount of electricity used by the tank deicers. Since the pipe heater has a thermostat built in and is on the outside of the bucket and not in the water I've had none of those issues.Welcome to the thread. This is off the subject but noticed your horizontal nipple system, I just set mine up. I was curious how cold you have gotten and how it did in the cold? Do you run a heater in your buckets?
My 2 cents: we have been down to -25 and no issues. Mine is inside coop with a small deicer. I just take a 2 gal bucket with warm water out every other morning and dump it in and then collect my eggs.Welcome to the thread.
