Hello everyone.
Well, remember when I said this was a roller coaster?
Kyle woke up this morning with abdominal pain. He said it was in the soft part of his abdomen between his ribs. He spent most of the day laying down curled up like his stomach really hurt. He also mentioned his legs and arms hurting. We gave him oxycodone. That helped but long story short, his pain was still there after two rounds of oxy and the oxy was not lasting as long as it should have. Despite the past few days of great eating, he barely ate today. We called the oncology clinic to ask if we were missing something. They advised to bring him to the hospital to just check him out. We were hesitant, but we are cautious right now, and we definitely take the advice of the oncology team on these things.
I will not go into a ton of details because I need to get to sleep, but the conclusion of the ER visit was that they never figured out why his abdomen was hurting. They felt it and listened, and did blood tests. All those came back normal. However, while we were there, his temperature went up to 101.2. If it would have done that at home, we would have had to take him in anyway. So they drew more blood to start blood cultures to make sure he does not have some kind of infection. They gave him two doses of antibiotics (one is a 24-hr antibiotic) and Tylenol. After observation, they decided there was no reason for us to stay.
The craziest part is that Kyle laid around all day uncomfortable and unhappy. He was weak and pale at the hospital. We got home, and he started running around yelling and laughing with Katie. And he ate some food and went to bed. We just don't get it. It's like his body had to get a fever, and then it was fine as soon as that went away. We don't know. At this moment, we were happy to be home for the night, and we are praying that whatever happened today was a fleeting thing... whatever that thing is. After Katie goes to school, we are praying for a relaxing, non-eventful day. I think I will call and reschedule his physical therapy, because Kyle could definitely use a day off from the hospital. He was not happy to be there today.
We will keep everyone posted.
That's not good, but I'm glad he is doing better know. Still praying.![]()
