Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

I finally got some pictures downloaded.

I went down to DD and DSIL's on Thursday last week. There were two birthdays to be celebrated. The first pic is from my birthday dinner Friday night at Popeye's Chop House in St. Rose, IL. Cheesecake with chocolate, caramel and raspberry sauces. It was delicious...

This pic of Kyle is with the two Lego vehicles he made and a house that Katie made to surprise me on my birthday. They are a bit obsessed with Legos. Katie is old enough to follow the direction booklets that come with the kits, but Kyle needs help and would prefer to have some else to the intricate parts. They both love to build things with all the random pieces they have.

Here is Kyle on Monday morning, his 4th birthday. This was an exceptionally special birthday...one we weren't sure we would be celebrating. My DD made maps for him to "treasure hunt" for his gifts. As he found the gift(s), his Dad would collect them and bring them to the dining room. At each treasure trove, there was another map to lead him to the next. You can see map 2 in his left hand and the next rolled up map in his right. He was smiling the whole time.

Here is his favorite gift. Multiple water-related Lego sets from different family members and friends. We put them together on Sunday evening after he went to bed so that he could play with them right away. He loves sea creatures and there were sharks, a saw fish and octopus with the sets.

His next scheduled appointment, related to his cancer, will be the last week of January. If all is well, his next appointment will be the last week of April. If all is well, he will be scheduled for surgery to remove his port. He is gaining a bit of weight and his stamina is improving. He didn't lose his hair but it is thinner and finer. His Dad is talking about getting it cut short to see if it will come back thicker.
Thank you so much for all of your support for Kyle and all of his family.

Mary, those pics and the update made me smile now. What a wonderful celebration and two remarkable people (yes, you too!) celebrating birthdays

Kyle looks great, considering what he went through, I admire that little man endlessly for being so strong and brave and positive through all this. Give him a big hug from the quotes family, please.
