I think this may be a feature of having been born a multiple. We don't have to censor ourselves with our twin/triplets. They understand, in a way "outsiders" don't and can't, that our direct speech never means to hurt, harm or offend. We're just able to be open with our siblings, and also more vulnerable, because we live, in a sense, inside their heads and hearts. There are no barriers as with "others." And so from our earliest days we've been able to "speak our minds" with our sibs, to speak without boundaries or fear of being misunderstood, but what we didn't learn ... is that this doesn't always work, or isn't always understood/ appreciated/ appropriate, in the "outside" world.
