Krystal, more please!
I like them!

The one about the guy in the BMW hits home.
I get so tired of people wanting us to cut off a dime here or a nickle there.
They have to be blind to not to see that we are struggling while they are bragging to us about their third home. ...-so why don't we cut off a dime for them?
Well, we need a roof on the old home that we are blessed to have I suppose.

We are not unworthy just because we work with our hands. We are not ignorant or uneducated just because we work with our hands.
We just love doing what we do, Without harming anyone or taking advantage of anyone.

Amen to your comments and quotes Jan! We quit selling at the local farmer's market for the reason you gave...we work all day/all year and offer fresh produce, pesticide-free for prices more reasonable than the commercial junk at the grocery stores and people still think they can get ours for almost free. The heck with that, we just decided to grow what we can eat, share a little with the neighbors that appreciate & need it. Plus our animals love our garden produce and they never quibble over the price, lol.

Jan, next time I see that quote on FB about people paying $5 for a coffee, but they won't pay that for free range eggs, I'll post it here.

When we lived in Ireland, we befriended a wonderful family who has a small mixed farm. They raise ducks, turkeys and chickens for selling (meat), keep pigs, raise calves and get looked down on by some for living that life. I wonder which factory these people think their turkey dinner came from?

Before we went to Ireland I used to drag our plant nursery customers into the chicken coop to watch chicks hatch under my broody hens. I often have people round watching hatches in my incubator. I will never, ever get tired of watching people's faces when confronted with the absolute miracle of watching a new life come into this world.

We raised a terribly spoiled chicken in the house and took him EVERYWHERE with us. You will not believe how many people looked at him when he was tiny still and asked me "What kind of birdie is that?" and get this funny look on their faces when I tell them "It's a baby chicken?"

WE are the wise and educated, my friends. We are blessed

I candled my eggs this morning! I have 37 out of 41 showing development! Four were clear and I through them to the pigs. A few others seemed further behind in development than others, but it may have had something to do with the color of the shell. All three of my RIR X EE eggs were fertile! I was surprised since they came from my laying flock where I have 60 hens in with one rooster. They are due on the 21st, I can't wait for some chicks!

Now to catch up on todays quotes!

A lot of people look down on us because of the way we live too. It's sad that people look down on farmers and homesteaders as ''strange'' or ''weird''. I remember my aunt visiting once while we had a couple of young ram lambs. At some point in the conversation my dad mentioned how tasty they would be when they grew up. She immediately replied ''You're going to eat them? But they're so cute, how could you??'' My dad asked why she had a problem eating our sheep which had a great life, while she ate factory meat raised in a little feed lot with no problems. She replied ''But that comes from the store''. Some people just don't release where their food comes from BEFORE it was put in to that fancy wrapper.
