As much as I hate ticks and wouldn't wish them on anyone I feel better knowing there a nuisance in other places. Little vampire demons.

Ticks are terrible here in North Central Missouri. All of our dogs are Frontline treated so they are dropping dead ticks like fall leaves. It's not unusual to find at least 5 on you after you venture out into the woods.

I was diagnosed with Lyme in 2010 and it will be with me for the rest of my life. My husband has had a tick borne infection, also.My thought for the day offering is one of my own:

Why don't they develop FRONTLINE for humans?

Think about it! I'd be first in line to buy it!

Now that's a good idea! :)

I agree. You'd think by now there would be something. I think a lot of the one's I'm ending up with are from the dogs laying on my feet, but sometimes I feel like I just walk outdoors and bam theres a tick. Our shepherd has been carrying a tick borne disease for about 8 years now. It's like lymes, but there is no vaccine for them...makes me wonder why we bother with the lymes vaccine then, but oh well. Maybe I will try frontline

Unfortunately there is more than one form of Lyme disease and there is also the co infections to worry about like Babesiosos. What I found interesting was reading recently about a frozen ancient human, possibly a cave man that was found and thawed and when they did microscopic exams of his genetic makeup they found a marker for Lyme on his DNA. The $&*#@! stuff actually marks its victims genetically! Anyone who has had Lyme will tell you how miserable it is. Wish it on your worst enemy? That would depend on the enemy......

I argued with somebody once, probably a deep inner city type who has never set foot in a forest about ticks. They claimed that you could only pick up ticks on grass because that's the only place they hung out. I countered with , then tell that to the tick I saw yesterday right by the hand I had resting on a tree at shoulder height and the one I killed that was crawling up one of our barn posts. It's estimated that around us if you lean against a tree longer than 45 seconds you stand a chance of having a tick get on you.

Second thought for the day:

I HATE TICKS!

I agree. Sometimes I feel like they fall from the trees. Up north we have this area that is an open gravel driveway kind of and it's surrounded by trees. We had ticks before we even made it to the actual tree line...only get them from grass my batooty. I second your thoughts on absolutely hating ticks. And once I find one I feel ghost ticks for the rest of the day haha

I tend to be brutal with any that I find on me and imaginative. We've taped them to .22 bullets and shot them out of a rifle, stuck them to tape and at the end of the day count ed the total and my favorite, tossed them into the fireplace and watched them spark up. My husband said I was a ghoul when it came to ticks and I agreed, but then like I said, only a person who has had Lyme will understand how sick just one bite can make you.

So my motto is: If they can make me miserable, I can make them MORE miserable!

PS! Oh, phantom ticks. EEWWWW YUCKY! We just came in from a walk and I swear I can feel them crawling on me even though I drenched myself in Deep Woods OFF!
